The public is invited to “Seize the Day” at the Prairie Palette Art Gallery this September as Harvest Fest opens in Petersburg. “CARPE DIEM” will open with a dessert and punch reception at 5:30 pm on Harvest Fest Friday, September 14, 2012. Everyone is invited to visit the gallery to meet the artists and browse their newest artwork. The show will run from September 14th to December 2nd. Regular gallery hours are noon -4 pm Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Along with featured artist, Petersburg resident Kevin Atterberry, a number of new artists will be exhibiting their work. Local photographer Sheila Harris will be showing at the Prairie Palette for the first time, along with Twain Sponsler, a well-known woodcarver from Oakford, who will also display several of his carvings. Art pottery as well as functional pottery is a medium available at the Prairie Palette. Trish Duknosky and Robert Dixon of Springfield are two of the excellent potters whose work will be available for purchase. Watercolorists Kate Worman-Becker and Janet Smith, pastel artists Rich Ford and Sue Scaife, and jewelry artist Lynn Barnett-Westfall are just a few of the favorite artists who will also participate in this show.
Michael Blankenship’s ever popular turned wooden bowls and vessels will include some new shapes and designs, while colorful quilted totes, bags and wall hangings from Helen Stamm will be also be available for purchase. Save the date, September 14, and make the CARPE DIEM open house an absolute “must attend” event.
The Prairie Palette Art Gallery is the organized and maintained by the PORTA CmPS team and the PORTA Art Club. The mission of the gallery is to promote and support the artists of Menard County and Central Illinois.
