HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS – Friday, February 3, 2012
LUNCH MENU TODAY: Popcorn Chicken or Bratwurst on Bun, Green Beans, Pears, Bread & Butter, Milk.
1. Seniors-Now is the time to complete your FAFSA forms. Please see Mrs. Mac if you have questions.
Don’t forget to get your PIN before filing.
2. Seniors- Check out the new scholarship list! Copies are available in the guidance office or on the PORTA website under guidance.
3. Attention Seniors! This scholarship missed getting on the Jan. list. If you plan to attend Lincoln Land Community College, UIS, Benedictine in Springfield or Robert Morris in Springfield, please see Mrs.
McMahan for the the Focus on Your Future scholarship application. It is due Feb. 10th!
4. LLCC is offering ACT Preparation Workshops in Springfield, Jacksonville, Taylorville and Litchfield. See the flyer on Mrs. Mac's door is you are interested. Cost is $125 and courses begin at the beginning of March.

Juniors and Senoirs: The cost just went up!! Check the list outside Room 124 to see how much you owe for prom dues. Pay Mrs. Raikes or Mary Beth.
6. WYSE team members should see Mr. Grant this week to get study materials for next week’s competition.
7. SENIORS! If you have pictures- baby pictures to current-that you want in the senior slideshow for everyone to see, give the pictures or scanned copies of them to Teagan or Braden anytime!! They are also looking for song ideas for the slideshow, so feel free to give opinions!!
8. Anyone interested in working a crew for the Spring Musical should start reporting to evening rehearsals on Wednesday, Feb. 8th at 6:00 pm. Any questions, see Mrs. DePatis.
9. The first semester star totals for Key Club members are posted outside Room 110. The Key Club t-shirt order is based on this information, so if you have questions concerning your star totals, please see Mrs. Perez by the end of the day Friday. You needed 5 stars by January 31st ! Shirts will be ordered on Monday.
10. Members of the Junior Class will be selling Butter Braids and Cookie Dough in an effort to raise money for this year's After Prom. Sales will begin on Friday, February 3rd and will run through Thursday, February 9th. Orders and payment need to be turned in to Mrs. Perez on Thursday, as the order will be called in on Friday, February 10th! NO LATE ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER FEBRUARY 10TH!!!! Butter Braid and Cookie Dough will be delivered to the High School Commons on Wednesday, February 15th. Students need to make arrangements to pick their frozen orders up on this date. In an effort to boost sales, the After Prom Committee will offer $20 to the top salesman and $10 to the second top seller! The success of After Prom is dependent upon your participation in this popular fundraiser! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Perez in Room 110.
11. Anyone who will be looking for summer employment see Mr. Trigg for an application for Knight's Action Park.
12. Students-If you are available and willing to tutor, either as a volunteer or for pay, please sign up on the sheet on the inside of the guidance office door. Your information will be shared with those who request tutoring. Tutor for student in Chemistry needed immediately-for pay! See Mrs. Mac if interested.

Section 14 record book award winnersare: Irene Lascelles- Diversified Crop production- entrepreneurship, Teagan Cutright- Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management, Nicholas Paulsmeyer- Fruit Production, Katie Gum- Safety, Alexis Kaecker- Small Animal Production and Care, Taylor Berkshire- Specialty Crop Production, Austen King- Wildlife Production and Management, Others who participated were: Bryce Buchele- Turf Grass Management, Alex DeMonbrun- Equine Science, Zane Holliday- Swine Production and Diversified Livestock Production, Skyler Ruppel- Corn and Soybean Production, Betty Thomas- Beef and Safety Production.
14. Congratulations to Anna Lowenthal and Erin Bettis, winner and runner-up of PORTA's local Poetry Out Loud contest. They'll compete at the Springfield Regional on February 16th. Thank you to everyone who participated this year, in which we had the highest scores ever. Contestants please come to 108 during advisory for a newspaper photo and prize distribution.
15. Don't forget to order your Valentine's Day sonnets from NEHS. Every dollar you spend goes into the local scholarship fund AND you can offer that special someone a unique gift. Orders taken through next Wednesday during lunch for Valentine's Day delivery.
16. FPS members SEE MRS. MARSHALL TODAY to take care of your lunch plans for regionals. If you do not, you will not eat. Remember to be here by 8:30 Saturday in the library to help set up for the competition.
17. Attention WYSE team members. The competition at Lincoln Land CC is scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 7 with a snow date of Feb. 9. Please adjust your calendars accordingly. We will leave the school at 7:45 am . Meet in room #111 at 7:30 am.
18. FACS Club Officers: There will be a brief meeting on Monday, 2/6, during advisory in Rm. 124. We need to discuss February business and the year-end field trip.
19. FACS Club Members: The February meeting will be held in Rm 124 on Tuesday, 2/7, during advisory. There are several members who need to attend in order to earn your meeting point. We will be discussing the upcoming bake night for teacher appreciation, the food drive, PTA babysitting, Market Day and the field trip.
