Dear Parent or Guardian,

It’s hard to believe that this is the last newsletter of the year; the time has certainly gone by in a hurry.  I want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.  Below you will find information regarding registration information for next school year.  I want to thank you for your support in making this a very productive and enjoyable school year.  REMINDER:  Last day of School is Monday, May 22nd and we will dismiss at 2:00.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR
Registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be held on Thursday, July 27th and Friday, July 28th at PORTA Central.  Specific times for registration will be established and listed in the Petersburg Observer later this summer.  School supply lists will be sent home with report cards.  Supply lists will also be available on the PORTA web page this summer.  Parents of students who will be moving out of the district are asked to contact the school office as soon as possible.  Your cooperation in preparing for the 2017-18 school year is greatly appreciated. 

 

MEDICATION PICK UP
Just a reminder all medication will need to be picked up before the last day of school. Medications will not be sent home with students. Please call to make arrangements prior to the last day of school to come pick up your child’s meds. Any medication left at school will be disposed of at the end of the day May 22, 2017.  Thank you and have a nice summer!

 

NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL LIBRARY

Several students have overdue library books that need to be returned. Notices are sent home whenever a student’s library books have been overdue for two or more weeks. Families are asked to check their child’s book bag for these notices to assure the child’s books are returned in a timely fashion.

 

SCHOOL CALENDAR CORRECTION

Please note that Friday, May 19th is a FULL day of attendance.  On the school magnets and other earlier published calendars, it was identified incorrectly as a 2:00 dismissal. 

 

TRACK & FIELD DAY/PICNIC
Our annual Track & Field meet is scheduled for Friday, May 19th.  The 5th and 6th grade students will be at the high school track from approximately 8:30-10:30 a.m. and the 3rd and 4th grade students from 1:00 – 2:30. This year we will also incorporate our end of the year picnic (11:00 – 12:00) with the Track Meet.  Parents are invited to join us at the track meet, for lunch, or both if you wish.  We will be providing lunch for the students on that day, so if you join us during the picnic, we ask that you bring your own lunch.  Due to needing to order sandwiches, we will have the picnic lunch on Friday, May 19th rain or shine.  If you have any questions, please call the office at 632-7781.  Thanks for your cooperation.
