HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS- Thursday, March 11, 2010
LUNCH MENU: TODAY – Cheese Pizza or Tuna Salad Sandwich, Lettuce Salad, Chips, Peaches, Milk.
1. Get your Footloose Tickets now! Tickets are on sale either in the High School office or by going to the PORTA website at porta202.org. Adult tickets for the show are $9, student tickets are $6. Cost of the Pre-Show Dinner is also $9 for adults and $6 for a smaller meal. Show time is 7:00 p.m. with the dinner starting at 5:30 on both Friday March 12th and Saturday, March 13th. Don't miss it!
2. ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS: Prom is less than 2 months away. There are a number of you who still owe prom dues. Check the lists outside room 124 to see if your name is one of them and how much you owe. Checks should be made payable to PORTA Junior Class-2011 and given to Mrs. Raikes or to Mrs. King in the junior high office.
3. FPS will have meeting on Friday, March 12th, 3:30-4:00 pm in room 109. Attendance is mandatory as we will be determining State Bound Teams and their practice times.
4. There will be an Art Club meeting today during advisory in the art room.
5. We still need Key Club members to sign up to work the Musical Dinner for this coming Saturday night. We have plenty of workers for Friday, but only a few for Saturday! In addition to earning stars, workers get a free meal and a free seat for the show! Sign-up sheets are located outside Mrs. Perez's room. If there are any other students who need community service hours for other clubs or organizations, check with your sponsor to see if working this event would qualify. We'd love the help! Any questions, see Mrs. Perez!
6. Attention cast and crew of "Footloose". This is a reminder that each family is asked to provide a dessert for the dinners on Friday and Saturday night. Please make sure your baked good is in a disposable container! You can bring your desserts to Mrs. Perez in Room 110 on Friday, or bring them with you on Friday night. We start serving dinner at 5:30!
7. FACS Club is having a food drive all this week. Bring your cans to Mrs. Raikes or Mrs. Becker. Remember everyone needs five points to go on the trip.
8. Students, If you have interest in becoming a registered nurse and would like to attend a camp this summer (July 19-22) which allow you to personally experience nursing education and nursing practice, you should see Mrs. McMahan for more information! Deadline for applications for this competitive program is April 9th, 2010.
9. The Prairie Palette Art Gallery will open its new show "Reflections" on Friday, March 26th from 6-8pm. This show, which will showcase adult artists in the community as well as former PORTA grads, will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm through May 2nd. It will include artwork from many different mediums including photography, jewelry, wood carved items, pastels, watercolor and glass and more.
The Prairie Palette Gallery is a joint project organized and operated by the PORTA Community Problem Solvers and the PORTA Art Club. Don't pass up this chance to support your classmates and to see fantastic original artwork.
10. CmPS team members - stop by Mrs. Mies' room ASAP to sign up for the Public Relations blitz. We need everyone to pitch in on this, only 2 weeks before the opening!
11. NHS members, A couple of things...All Juniors and any seniors who want to need to give $22. and your shirt size to Whitney G. by the 15th. Mark your calendars! The date we have secured for feeding the homeless is Sunday, April 18th. We will be doing a meal and a drive for necessities. Questions, see Mrs. Mac
12. Science Oly practice Monday after school until 6:30 be there at some time and Thursday 5:00 - 7:00.
13. Footloose Cast: Cast Pictures will be tonight at 6:30. Please bring $12 if you want to order a picture. All make-up, hair and costumes MUST be ready to go by 6:30. Tickets will be available for paying customers tonight so we want to start on time. Student tickets will be $6, adults $9. See Mrs. D. if you have any questions.
