Mr. Basan enters his second year at PORTA and hopes to continue updating the Technology Education curriculum to better serve students at both the junior high and high school levels.
Coach Basan takes over the Auto Tech program after the retirement of Mr. Huff. He will also teach Cabinet/Furniture Construction, Transportation Technology, Math Advisory, and 8th Grade Computers.
"I had a great year in the classroom last year," Basan said. "I hope my students learned a great deal about my teaching philosophy and where I'd like to take the Technology Department in the future."
Basan's baseball team finished the year 19-6 and won the IHSA Pawnee Regional and the Sangamo Conference title with a record of 8-1. Basan will also coach the boy's golf team this fall.
After spending two years at Illinois State University, Coach Basan received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology Education.
While at ISU, Coach Basan served as Assistant Baseball Coach for the Redbirds, in charge of outfielders and hitters.
Coach Basan resides in Petersburg and has two daughters, Kaleigh (12) and Kelcie (9) who live in Indiana.
