Michelle Gomez is one of the high school physical education teachers and also teaches junior high health. She is in charge of the Heart Smart for Teens that is run with the county health department for the 7th grade junior high students. Mrs. Gomez is the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach at PORTA.
This is Mrs. Gomez's 6th year at PORTA. Mrs. Gomez graduated from high school in Coal City , IL. She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana State University where she played collegiate volleyball. Mrs. Gomez received her Master's degree from Eastern Kentucky University where she was an assistant volleyball coach. After graduating from EKU, Mrs. Gomez taught and coached Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska for ten years. Mrs. Gomez then coached at Western Illinois University before coming to the PORTA school district.
Mrs. Gomez is married to husband, Tito and has one son, Anthony. She enjoys training and competing with her chocolate labrador retrievers, drawing, painting, golfing, and gardening in her spare time.
