Mrs. Marshall teaches AP English Literature & Composition, English IV and American Lit & Comp I. She is in her second year at PORTA, but her 20th in teaching, having taught junior high, high school, junior college, and college classes over the last two decades. She received her Bachelor's at WIU, her Master's at NIU, and is in the process of a PhD.
Mrs. Marshall is also enthusiastic about sports, having been a State Champion Shot Putter in 1980 (high school) and 1982 (college). She has coached or directed a variety of sports and activities, including track, volleyball, basketball (though very badly), speech, yearbook, musicals & plays, and literary magazines. At PORTA, Mrs. Marshall is not currently coaching due to significant life changes on the part of her mother.
Mrs. Marshall is married with one child and is also the proud owner (or perhaps is proudly owned by) a wolf-sable Pomeranian named Connor (there can be only one--see the Highlander movies), and one grossly lazy feline,Tabitha. Over the summer, the Marshalls welcomed a new puppy, Kodiak (a miniature American Eskimo) to their home.
In her spare time, Mrs. Marshall enjoys Renaissance Faires, powerlifting, reading (especially a really good Mercedes Lackey or Neil Gaiman book), writing (she's an English teacher; what did you expect?), canine agility, motorcycles and traveling.
