The PORTA District was contacted recently by Bob O'Hara a former student and resident of Petersburg who attended PORTA from kindergarten up through 8th grade. Bob now lives and works New Orleans, Lousiana as a Solar Technician and Consultant, but his parents still reside in Petersburg. PORTA pool is an indoor, heated facility. The 6-lane, 25 yard competitive pool meets standards for IHSA, YMCA, and USS swimming and diving programs. The pool is also available for recreational use with a 3 1/2 foot shallow end and 12-foot deep end with diving board.
