Mrs. Meyer currently teaches 10-12th grade Community Based Education here at PORTA High School. CBE focuses on the transition from school to living outside in the community for special education students. Classes include such things as Domestics, Rec/Leisure, Community, Life Skills, and Vocational. Students in Mrs. Meyer's class spend two or more hours of the day working out in the community at different businesses to gain work experience and social skills.
Mrs. Meyer is originally from East Peoria and graduated from East Peoria Community High School. Mrs. Meyer attended two years of community college at ICC. While at ICC, she played softball, winning a national championship her freshman year. Mrs. Meyer earned her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University in the Spring of 2004.
Mrs. Meyer currently lives in Springfield with her husband, Eric and son, Tayton. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
