Mrs. Miller

This is Mrs. Miller's 5th year teaching at PORTA High School. She has the privilege of teaching Spanish I; English III; and AP English Language and Composition, a course for juniors offered for the first time here at PORTA this year. She is also the FCA sponsor and helps Mr. Helle out with Spanish Club.
Mrs. Miller was born and raised in Springfield, IL. She attended Lutheran High School and then the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At U of I she was a member of the Orange Krush student cheering section, so she's a big Illini basketball fan. She majored in English and double minor in Secondary Education and Spanish. She was also blessed with the opportunity to take one of her summer Spanish classes abroad in Argentina.
Mrs. Miller married Justin Miller in July of 2004, and they currently reside in Springfield with their two cats, Orange Krush (Krusher) and The Gray Gatsby (Gatsby). The Millers are anxiously awaiting the birth of their first child somewhere around January 12th, 2008.
In her spare time, Mrs. Miller volunteers as a song leader and youth group leader at her church. She also enjoys singing karaoke, reading, playing volleyball (well, when she's not pregnant anyway), playing the piano, watching movies, eating Mexican food, and ballroom dancing.
If you need to contact Mrs. Miller, you can e-mail her at amiller@porta202.org or leave a message at the high school office (632-3216), and she will return your call at her earliest convenience, which may not be until her 8th hour prep., which is from 2:30-3:20.
