Schedule of Performances for the Vocal Music Department

Hello PORTA Parents and Students. My name is Raquel Reid. This is my fourth year as vocal director here at PORTA and I'm excited to get started on preparations for this years performances.
I teach 5th and 6th grade music at PORTA Central and Jr. High and High School Choir plus the Jazz Choir group. I have been teaching vocal music for the past 13 years and I love what I do. I also enjoy teaching private voice and piano lessons. My husband Dewey and I, along with our three cats, Valentine, Sugar Plum and Tippy, live in Chandlerville.
There are many dates that you will want to be putting on your calendars that your music student will be involved in throughout the year. There will also be a few times that the music department will be calling on you for your assistance. It takes a number of people involved to successfully host an IMEA Auditions, IHSA or IESA Music Contest. We are always looking for people to show there support by volunteering. Following is a list of Performance Dates this school year.
Monday, October 8 IMEA All-District Auditions (Vocal @ PORTA Central Instrumental @ Jr./Sr. High) only select students are involved, but parental help will be needed.
Saturday, November 3 IMEA All-District Music Festival at Macomb (WIU Campus)
Friday and Saturday, November 9th & 10 Musical at H. S. Auditorium
Saturday, November 17 IMEA Jazz Festival (hosted by PORTA so volunteers will be needed)
