What's New With "25 Minutes of Caring?"
Petersburg Elementary Children Learn About Habit: 1 Be Proactive
Petersburg Elementary and the 3rd graders at Central are having so much fun learning about Habit 1: Be Proactive. We are learning how to be a good friends. Our children are learning the difference between being proactive and being reactive. They are also learning what they have control over and what they don't and how to make good choices. The word bored no longer has a place in their vocabulary because the students know it is their responsibility to create their own fun. This month the children will be taught how to shake hands with someone. The students will learn that you need eye contact and a firm grip to show the importance of meeting someone new. They will also learn that a leader is someone that doesn't tell us what to do, a leader shows us how it's done!
25 Minutes of Caring also held its first Family Fun Night of the year on Thursday, September 8th. It was a great night! We had 97 Petersburg Elementary children and their families in attendance. Each child received a game for their age group, a book of their choice, and a token for a free ice cream cone, donated by our Petersburg Dairy Queen. Families stayed and read their new books with their children and played the games on the gym floor. Our next 25 Minutes of Caring Family Fun Night will be Thursday, October 13th from 6pm-7pm in the Petersburg Elementary Gym. This will be a “dress up night”. Everyone can wear costumes or dress up clothes, adults included. This will be a spooktacular night, so don’t miss it!
