PORTA High School will offer Lincoln Land Community College First Semester Program

PORTA High School seniors will have an additional opportunity next school year. In the spring semester of the 2019-2020 school year, seniors who have fulfilled their core graduation requirements will have the opportunity to get a head start on their college careers by attending LLCC’s First Semester program at Pleasant Plains High School. As a part of this program, students are required to enroll in five LLCC courses and because it is a dual credit program, will also retain their status as high school students. As a result, they are still eligible to participate in PORTA High School activities and organizations. The cost of enrolling in the program is the student and/or parent’s responsibility and is the same amount a student who is attending LLCC would pay for those courses, estimated to be around $2,500.

Parents of interested students are invited to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, May 9th at 7:15 a.m. in the high school library. Please contact Linnay Taylor, guidance counselor or Amy McMahan, principal, at the high school with questions regarding the program.
