Welcome to my page and the start of another great year!
My Background - This year begins my twenty-fifth year teaching and my eighth year at PORTA. I earned my Bachelor's degree in English from Illinois Wesleyan University and my teaching credentials from University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS). I earned my Master's degree in English from UIS, as well.
Although I am originally from Springfield, I have lived in the PORTA district since 1996. My late husband was a PORTA graduate, coach, and lifelong resident of the district. Both of our sons are PORTA graduates.
Classes - This year, I am teaching English I as well as 7th grade English and IXL Intervention (first semester only). During the second semester, I will teach English I, 7th grade English, and Cultural Expressions, a high school English elective.
Extracurricular Activities - I am the sponsor for PORTA's Community Problem Solvers, the coach for the high school Scholastic Bowl team, and the assistant coach for the high school cross country team.
